Al Muftah Signs Sponsorship Contract With QGA
The 14th GCC Team Golf Championships will be held at the Doha Golf Club from Thursday, the Qatar Golf Association announced yesterday. Teams from the six GCC countries – Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait will be taking part in the three-day event. Competitions will be held in three categories – the first team, seniors and juniors. “The first team means the main team featuring the best players, while the seniors constitute players over 45 and the juniors players under 18,” QGA general secretary Fahd Nasser al-Nuaimi told reporters. The main competition – featuring the first team – will be played over three rounds. “Each team will have four players and at the end of the three rounds the best score among the four will be taken into account as the team score,” said Al-Nuaimi. The tournament is open only to nationals of the GCC countries. Bahrain are the defending champions in the main event, while Qatar are the holders of the junior title. The seniors event is being played for the first time this year. Meanwhile, the QGA signed contracts with Al Muftah Rent a Car, Ritz Carlton and American Hospital.
